What we do

The Clinical Librarian Service provides expert assistance to staff and students of Royal Melbourne Hospital, Victorian Mental Health, Royal Women's Hospital, and the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre. We offer support in finding and using information.

We support:

• patient care
• research
• quality improvement projects
• policy, protocol and guideline development
• professional development activities.

 

Finding evidence/information

It can be difficult to  find the articles you need amongst the huge volume published each year. The clinical librarians can help.

 

Literature searches:

We can carry out a high quality literature search to find the latest publications for staff. Use this form on the library website to request a search.  Please provide as much information about your request as you can.

 

Search Training

We offer one-on-one training or small group sessions on literature searching or how to use a database.

Database advice and access

We can advise on where to look for information including choice of databases and sources of grey literature.

Literature reviews

We assist in developing or doing searches for staff.  For more information on conducting a literature review click here. For reviews being done as part of a qualification (undergraduate, postgraduate or professional) we do not supply finished searches. We do provide training, advice and feedback on searches to support the development of your research skills to meet contemporary expectations. This can be delivered as group or individual support.

Stay up to date with current developments in your areas of interest. Get new material delivered straight to your inbox. The clinical librarians can advise or assist on:

• Electronic table of contents (eTOC's) from preferred journals.
• Evidence or Subject alerts.  Tailor alerts to your specific interests.
• Browzine - read the latest editions of your favourite journals on your desktop, tablet or smartphone.
